1940 Ford Tudor Deluxe RestoRod

This 1940 Ford Tudor was customized by award-winning early Ford V8 restorer, Jack Hogan. After having restored dozens of stock early 1932-48 Ford V8’s, and garnering many National Best In Show and Dearborn Awards in Early Ford V8 Club judging, Jack decided to build a ’40 restorod that recalled his youth in the 1950’s and 60’s, but with modern upgrades for comfort, convenience and safety. Jack has been upgrading the car over the last 10 years and enjoying it along the way. His only reason for selling now is to make room in the garage.

The car is All-Ford steel. Body and paint were done in 2010, just prior to Jack’s purchase of the car. Subtle body mods including louvered hood, removed drip rails, removed windshield center post and customized third brake light. Paint is Mercedes Benz cream (very similar to 1940 Ford “Tacoma Cream”) with hand painted flames and striping. Paint has some touch-ups here and there but presents well today. New running boards and rubber mats. Interior was fully reupholstered by Jack in brown leather, in correct 1940 Ford stitching and pattern. Tan wool headliner and and carpets with floor mats. Removable center console/arm rest that fits front or back seats. Great for touring.

Mechanically excellent. Powered by mildly built 350 SBC V8 with Edelbrock carburetor and manifold. 12 volt Mallory electronic ignition. Dual 12 volt batteries in the trunk. New custom wiring harness. Corvette servos. Custom headers and dual exhaust. Quiet when needed but fast and loud when wanted. Custom radiator and electric fan keeps cool in all weather. Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. 3.0:1 10-bolt rear end. Rebuilt front end with Pete and Jake 3″ drop front axle. Reinforced frame. Power steering. Power front disc brakes. Centec mag wheels with Toyo radial tires. Fronts: 195/60 R14. Rears: 215/75 R14. Welded-in 2″ receiver trailer hitch with wiring plug for towing your trailer or toys. Current mileage approximately 2,000 miles since completion.

Optioned inside with 15″ ’40 Ford steering wheel on tilt column. VDO gauges. Turn signals. Kenwood AM/FM/CD 4-speaker stereo (with remote) with GPS Navigation, Bluetooth, Back-up Camera and Video player, all nicely mounted in the dashboard. New custom heater and ice-cold air conditioning controlled from inside the glove box for a clean look in the cabin. Working courtesy lights. Manual windows.

I have personally driven this car and it runs and drives without fault. Comfortable and quiet around town but opens up on the highway and will push you back in your seat when you step on it.

A real pleasure to drive and I would not hesitate to take it across the country tomorrow.
